Costa Smeralda is not a destination you cross in a straight line. It is a sequence of coves, historic hotels, private villas and restaurants often accessible only via narrow, scenic secondary roads. The freedom to move without depending on taxis or shuttles becomes part of the experience, not an operational detail.
Landing at Olbia Costa Smeralda and finding your car ready means starting the holiday from the moment you step off the plane. For private jet arrivals, delivery happens directly at the handler area. For commercial flights, the vehicle is available at the terminal's dedicated parking.
The first stretch from Olbia north reaches Porto Rotondo in about twenty-five minutes. Piazza San Marco with its marble, the marina and the hillside villas tell the original aesthetic of this part of Sardinia. From here, the SP73 leads to Porto Cervo via Capriccioli and Pevero beach.
Cala di Volpe deserves a stop regardless of where you stay. The historic hotel is one of the few places in the world where the car park almost becomes a contemporary art gallery. An SUV like the Range Rover Sport or Porsche Cayenne is perfect for the gravel roads leading to bayside villas.
Further north, Porto Cervo Marina is the summer reference. The Promenade du Port boutiques, restaurants like ConFusion and sunsets at Phi Beach in Baja Sardinia define the typical evening agenda.
Costa Smeralda rewards vehicles that combine aesthetic presence and versatility. A Range Rover Sport is the most requested choice as it works for resort arrivals and gravel roads to coves alike. For a more characterful profile, a Porsche Cayenne Coupé or Bentley Bentayga add scenography to arrivals.
For couples without bulky luggage, a Porsche 911 Cabriolet or BMW M4 Competition turn the panoramic SP59 stretches into pure driving. The advisor recommends based on the actual programme of the stay, not just aesthetic taste.
Porto Cervo applies variable access rules in high season, with dedicated parking for resort guests and limited-access zones along the marina. Major resorts, from Cala di Volpe to Romazzino, offer included or coordinated valet parking.
For private villa stays, internal parking is almost always guaranteed, but the advisor verifies access width and surface in advance to avoid surprises with low or long-wheelbase vehicles.
High season covers June, July and especially August, with extreme demand around Ferragosto. For the most requested vehicles, we recommend formalising the request at least eight to ten weeks in advance. May, September and early October often offer a more pleasant experience away from the peak.
Olbia delivery is the most common, but it is possible to coordinate handover directly at your accommodation, at a marina or at another destination of your stay (Costa Paradiso, Stintino, Alghero). Talk to a concierge to build the itinerary.
