Deposit and insurance on luxury cars: how it really works

Deposit: what it is, why it exists, how it is managed

The deposit is a temporary guarantee blocked on the main driver's credit card. It is not a cost: it is an amount set aside for the duration of the rental and released at the end of the contract if no damage or anomaly emerges. The amount varies based on the vehicle's value and insurance excess.

For a premium SUV we typically talk about EUR 3,000-5,000. For supercars and ultra-high-end vehicles the deposit can rise significantly, in line with the vehicle's commercial value. The advisor communicates the exact amount at proposal stage, with no surprises.

Included base insurance: what it really covers

All our vehicles are delivered with full third-party liability (RCA), kasko (vehicle damage), fire and theft coverage. This is a complete package, not minimum coverage. The difference from low-cost rental lies precisely in this starting point.

Each coverage has an excess, the share of damage borne by the driver in case of incident. The excess is proportional to the vehicle's value and is one of the elements determining the deposit amount.

Excess reduction: when it makes sense

For complete peace of mind, an excess-reduction option can be subscribed, significantly lowering the driver's share in case of incident. The additional cost ranges between 5 and 15 per cent of the rental total.

We recommend this option especially for stays in destinations with complex traffic (historic centres, ZTL, narrow parking) or for supercars particularly exposed to minor damage risk.

Incidents and damage management

In case of incident, the first action is to contact the advisor, who activates the insurance procedure and coordinates every step: amicable statement, road assistance if needed, replacement vehicle where possible. The guest does not manage any operational aspect alone.

For minor damage (scratches, damaged rims) assessment happens at return with documented appraisal. Transparency is our principle: every charge is justified by real quotations from the manufacturer or certified bodyshops.

Fines, ZTL and deposit release

Fines received during the rental (ZTL, speed cameras, parking) are notified to the driver on public administration timelines, which can take weeks or months. The deposit is normally released within a few days of return, except for specific situations communicated transparently.

The advisor provides operational information on ZTL, parking and local rules in advance, significantly reducing the risk of unexpected fines.
